So not everyone has access to a dungeon to play in or a cross to flog on. If you do, you're very lucky and should take advantage of that resource. Otherwise you must make do with things you can find. It's not that hard and it's not really dangerious as long as you play safe. The first thing to consider is where are you going to play.

The place you pick should be large enough to keep from cramping you as you swing and the ceiling should be high enough that you can swing the flogger without hitting the ceiling. You'll want to get a towel, a hood and a weight belt or another towel and either a cross or a friend to lean the sub against. All of these items are to protect the sub.


When flogging, even a light flogging, it's possible for a sub to lock his knees and colapse. To avoid this scenario, you need a cross to tie them to or a friend to support them and catch them if they fall. You could also secure them to other things, but you get the idea. The point is that if their knees colapse, you don't want them to fall and hit their heads.



The first towel goes around the neck of the sub to prevent accidental injury to the spine. The second towel or weight belt goes around the waist, making sure that the sub's kidney's are protected from stray hits from the flogger. Lastly the hood is to prevent accidental hits to the face. Subs have a nasty habit of looking back to see what's going on just as your throwing the flogger.

Flogging is one of my favorite things to do.  It's meditative.  It's my zen.  Many people are interested in flogging, but don't have access to any good information.  Unfortunately, the topic is far too broad to cover in a single post, so I'll try to split it up here into a few posts.  The first post, this one, will cover picking the right flogger for you.

The first thing to decide on is your budget.  How much do you want to spend on this flogger.  Your budget will determine the next step.  Basically, you can get a cheap flogger that is cheap, you can get an inexpensive flogger that either looks nice or works well or you can get an expensive flogger that works well and looks great.  If you've never tried flogging and you are lucky enough to have access to a local fetish club, then ask someone to show you their floggers. 

It's easy to get sucked in by the pretty braiding but this has no functional purpose.  Pay special attention to the balance of the flogger.  Hold the flogger in your hand.  Try balancing it on two fingers.  Now try using the flogger.  Pick a spot on a wall or a door and try to hit the spot with the flogger.  How does that feel?  Go for a while, hitting the spot over and over and see how your accuracy is and notice the weight of the flogger.  Where is the weight of the flogger when you're "throwing" it?  If it's well weighted, it works with you during the throw, if it's not well weighted, it's either neutral or it works against you.

Now if this is your first flogger, and you've not had a chance to use a flogger yet, then perhaps you would like to go with an inexpensive flogger, maybe even just a little cheep flogger, to see if you like it.  Keep in mind that quality floggers may change the experience dramatically so pay attention to the parts that you don't like about flogging.  If it simply does nothing for you, then that's probably it.  It's not your thing.  However, if you find that your disappointed with the way the flogger handles or the feeling that it gives or sound that it makes when it impacts the bottom, then you very well may just be ready to move up to a nicer flogger.

I get asked quite often, "What are catheters for?" when I reply, "For sticking down your penis" the looks I get are, understandably, usually those of sheer terror. I reassure the person who asks that it doesn't hurt if done right and indeed, if it hurts you should stop because your doing something wrong. Like most people, the first time that I heard about sounding (as catheter play is called), I was a little weirded out, but thanks to a friend, I learned it's actually incredibly hot.

I started out learning about sounding the way I start to learn about anything. I Googled it. I read a number of articles that provided virtually no useful information and then I came across The Deviant Dictionary. Their article on sounding is excellent, if quite overly cautious. Women must be extremely careful when sounding for two reasons, first, it probably won't feel good to them and second, they are at a much higher risk for urinary tract infections. I'll share my knowledge, but I also encourage you to read The Deviant Dictionary's article on the subject. Don't let their overly cautious attitude discourage you. There's some great information there.

We sell a great sound set called the Hagar sound set. It's a double ended sound set so you get two sizes on every sound. I really like this feature as I feel it helps keep the sound from dropping too quickly. No matter where you buy your sound set from, be sure to inspect it as soon as you get it and WAY before you even think of inserting it. It should be perfectly smooth. If it's double sided, then the transition should be smooth. If there are sizes engraved in it, it should not be rough around the edges and there should not be any scratches or flaking in the metal. A scratch in your urethra is extremely painful and possibly dangerous.

The number one rule with sounding is cleanliness. Let's start with the most basic step, washing our hands. Use an antibacterial soap. Next, clean the play area. If you have a medical tray, great, if not then clear off a table top and clean it with alcohol or an antibacterial soap. Wash your hands again after handling anything that's not sterile. Next clean the sounds your going to use with alcohol and then place them on the cleaned surface. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap again and then, using antibacterial soap, clean the area of the body. This means the penis head and the lips of the penis. Don't scrub, but gently clean the area with the antibacterial soap.

Now for insertion. You'll want to use either KY or Astroglide. Both brands are close to your natural PH and therefore won't burn when you insert the sound. Also note that they are both water-based so that your body will easily absorb them. Lubricate the sound with the PH balanced lube and then place a small amount of the lube on the pee hole of your penis. Now take the sound and gently insert it into your penis. Do not push. The sound should slip down on it's own. Hold on to the end of the sound and slowly lower it down into your penis.

If the sound slips down into your penis, simply point your penis down and gravity will pull the sound back out. Once the sound is in, you can move it up and down, if you like or you can even masturbate with it in. It feels amazing. If you cum with it in it's pretty hot too. I've heard it said that cuming with it in is not preferred but given the rarity at which most people would do it, I doubt it will bring any harm.

Be sure that you wash everything with antibacterial soap and swab down your sounds with alcohol before putting it away. As far as cleaning out the inside of your urethra, nature will take care of that. You'll feel the urge to go pee shortly after you cum. When you pee your body will wash out your urethra for you.
